SECOND ROW FOR TARTABINI AT VARANO
RS Cup qualifying for SevenHills Motorsport, who will have to fight their way through in tomorrow’s two races. The team’s best is Paolo Tartabini, who grabs fourth on the grid, just three tenths off pole-sitter Luca Franca. The four-place penalty handed to Giulio Bensi for the incident at Misano, however, promotes the driver from the Marche to third, right behind Franca and the Lancellotti Clio. Manuel Stefani also benefits from Bensi’s penalty, moving up to sixth, only one second and one tenth off the pole-sitter. Andrea Bonifazi is twelfth, third among the Over 50s, but very close to his rivals Mariella and Cipolla. It was a tougher session for Pieralberto Maffia, who pays the price of being a newcomer to the Turbo and sets the fifteenth time, ahead of Massimo Massaro’s New Clio 2000, forced to retire from official qualifying with a broken control arm. See you tomorrow morning for the first race.
