RS CUP: TARTABINI SHINES IN RACE 2 AT VARANO
The second RS Cup race at Varano also delivered plenty of excitement for Seven Hills. It was a frantic start, and right after the lights went out Giulio Bensi and Manuel Stefani made contact at the first corner. As the Safety Car came out, the Veneto driver managed to restart and return to the pits, but every repair attempt proved futile. Tartabini, meanwhile, held third, while Bonifazi made an excellent start to climb to seventh and first of the Over 50s. At the restart, Tartabini fended off an attack from Fazioli, then began to close in on Alex Lancellotti and passed him in the second half of the race at the Ickx corner. Meanwhile Bonifazi cruised comfortably at the head of the Over 50s, with Cipolla battling Mariella before being forced into the pits after running onto the grass. Massaro, for his part, again set his sights on Beltrami and overtook the talented driver from Codogno in the second half of the race. With a few minutes to go, Bonifazi even climbed to sixth at the expense of Casciandrini, who was still feeling the effects of the Race 1 incident. Franca pulled away from Tartabini to repeat his Race 1 win, but the driver from Ancona delivered a race worthy of applause. Fazioli completed the overall podium ahead of Lancellotti, while in the closing stages Bonifazi closed in on Chierichetti, who just managed to hold on to fifth. The driver from Orvieto took a double win in the Over 50 class. Massimo Massaro also did well, finishing second among the naturally aspirated cars behind local driver Covini. Pieralberto Maffia continued his apprenticeship in the red-and-black car, completing another race without any particular difficulties. The RS Cup returns in September at Vallelunga, with big news in our team. STAY TUNED!!!!
